History Of College

Padmashri Vikhe Patil College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pravaranagar, was established in June, 1971 under the aegis of Pravara Rural Education Society, Pravaranagar. The College is located in rural area in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra and has been catering to the educational needs for the boys and girls of surrounding 44 villages. The college has around 52 Acres lush green and sprawling campus equipped with ultra-modern facilities for teaching, learning and research.

The college is permanently affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University,Pune and is approved u/s 2(f) and 12 (b) of the UGC act.

The college has Arts, Science and Commerce faculties. It offers education at under graduate and post graduate level. There are 22 under graduate and 18 post graduate courses along with 10 research centres and 47 certificate courses. It is the only institute which offers restructuring pattern for UG under affiliating University, which is started in 1983 to encourage the multidisciplinary studies. The need based, skill oriented and personality development courses of the restructuring pattern have evoked tremendous response from the students.

The college has 139 teaching and 55 non-teaching staff.In the academic year 2023-2024 a total of 2628 students are pursuing education in the college. The college also offers B.A and B.Com degree programmes for dropout and employed students under YCMOU, Nashik.

The college has been honored twice with The Best Rural College Award in 2001-02,2009-10 and 2021-22 from the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.

The college is ISO 9001-2008 certified. It is bestowed with Star College by DBT in 2010 and 2020. The college was Accredited 'A+' grade,Re-Accredited 'A' grade with CGPA 3.61,Re-Accredited in third cycle 'A' grade with CGPA 3.11 and Re-Accredited in fourth cycle with 'A' grade by the NAAC in 2025 and has been recognized as the College of Excellence by UGC, New Delhi in 2014.

Dr. Abdul Kalam Science and Innovation Activity Centre started in collaboration with Government of Maharashtra Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Technology and Design Innovation Centre (DIC)-Spoke centre of SPPU is established.

Along with conventional courses the college offers vocational courses like Seed Technology, Functional English & Computer Application.

The degree courses in Computer Science, Biotechnology and Library & Information Science along with PG programs in computer, biotechnology are also available. Some bridge, remedial and add-on courses have been introduced for slow and advanced learners.

The college has been supporting poor, intelligent and needy students through Earn and Learn Scheme since its inception.

Active placement and career guidance cell helps students in fetching on and off campus jobs. The extra-curricular activities like NSS and NCC are helpful in developing good citizens of India.
