The department of Philosophy is located in the Main Building of the college, measuring 11.17 Sq. feet floor, with sufficient furniture and a computer. The department of Philosophy is established in 1971. The first approved lecturer of the dept. was Prof. K.G. Dongre who worked from 1971 to 1976. Mr. S.M. Nirmal joined the dept in 1974 and retired in 2010. After his retirement, Dr.M. U. Patil has been teaching the subject. Currently 160 students are enrolled in the department for under graduate course. The faculty member of the department has completed his Ph. D the faculty member is regularly involved in the publication and presentation of research papers.
The department is well equipped with ICT facilities. The department has infrastructural facilities with the departmental library having 208 texts and reference books, 3 charts, 15 portraits of great philosophers and 4 diagrams. And 04 projects written by the T.Y.B.A. restructuring students, under the guidance of the faculty. The faculty of department actively involves in motivating students to participate in curricular, co curricular and extension activities. Along with the conventional methods of teaching, PPTs, Internet, CDs, and Charts are used for effective teaching. Study tours are organized to provide practical knowledge to the students. For up gradation, open discussions and feedbacks are beneficial
In addition to the classroom learning, study tours, library, internet, computer, seminars and guest lectures are the other means available in the department. The continuous evaluation methods like tests, tutorials, group discussions, orals, student’s seminars, etc. are used for the internal assessment of the students
The department of philosophy organized a two days State-level seminar on "Achievements of Philosophers and Social Reformers in the Transformation of Indian Societies in 19th and 20th Century" on 13th and 14th January 2017 in collaboration with History Department. The department also organized various activities under 'Special Guidance Scheme' for the weaker students under Board of Student Welfare. The department organized one day workshop on 'Value Education in the Syllabi' sponsored by the Board of Student Welfare, S. P. Pune University, Pune in 2017-18.
The department also conducts Value added course on "Value Education" for the under graduate students since 2012-13. The faculty also motivates students to actively Participate in the research activities. Mr. M.U. Patil registered for the Ph. D. in Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathawada University, Nanded. He has also Published 21 Research papers at national and international level so far and authored two books for 12 standard, named '12th Tarkashastra Margadarshika' and '12th Tattwadnyan Margadarshika'. Along with it, he also edited a book of research article entitled,"Achievements of Philosophers and Social Reformers in the Transformation of Indian Societies in 19th and 20th Century".
The faculty member actively participate in the various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities conducted by the college and PRES. The faculty member of the department acted as a Chairman and member of various committees formed by the college and PRES
