Department of English

The English Department is operational since the establishment of the college i.e the year 1971. Initially English was taught as a compulsory subject for first year B.A., B.Com and BSc courses. English as a special subject was introduced in the year 1976. The post-graduate course i.e M.A. English was introduced in 1994. The Department aims to engage young minds in creative and analytical thinking through literary studies that can effectively help in building a holistic and healthier human community. This objective is achieved by creating space for students to discuss both local and global issues critically and creatively. The curricula are taught through discussion, assignments, text, reviews, power point presentation etc. Students are encouraged to express their views on various issues and thereby develop their intellectual capabilities. In addition, there are 21 computers with Language Laboratory software for developing communication skills of the students.
